Why I Married Peter Okoye Despite Our age difference –– Lola Omotayo

Peter Okoye of P’Square and Lola Omotayo’s love story is compelling and amazing. The couple have been in a relationship for over eight years before they finally tied the knot on Sunday, November 17, 2013.
There has been a lot of talk and whispers about their marriage, the family issues and the fact that Lola is by far older than Peter Okoye has been trending. But why did she decide to marry someone who’s her junior?
Below is Lola Omotayo’s stand on their age difference…
Lola, who was a Business Development Director at FKG2m a marketing agency in Lagos, had told the story of how she and Peter met and how the relationship started:
“My agency handles some of British American Tobacco brands and P’Square was doing a show for us at one of our events in Enugu. Though I had met Peter a couple of times before then, at the show there was some chemistry.
He asked for my number and I refused giving it to him. I told him ‘if you really want to know me, you have to find my number’. So he took it as a task and found my number and the rest is history.”
Lola, said to be in her 30s then and Peter in his 20s, was not disturbed by the age difference. Her reason:
“Like I said, Peter is an old soul and he always tells me that I’m like a 23-year-old. Age is just a number. Right now, you can see it around the world. Demi Moore, Usher and some known people. Even in Nigeria here, they are dating people far older than their age. So, we shouldn’t base it on the age factor. He doesn’t make me feel like he’s younger than me.”
Hmmmn, is age really just a number in marriage, especially in Nigeria?

Etisalat Replies Julius Agwu’s N100million Lawsuit

Ace comedian Julius Agwu filed a suit against telecoms giant, Etisalat claiming they illegally blocked and swapped his phone number.
Etisalat’s Public Relations Manager, Chineze Amanfo, while reacting to the allegation through an email sent to PM News, stated that contrary to the reportage of the issue on the blogs and news sites, a SIM swap was performed on the said line after the requester provided the company’s customer care executives with necessary SIM replacement information, in accordance with laid down NCC regulations and process for SIM swap.
She added that the SIM replacement information includes security and personal requirements to the owner, which the requester provided before the swap was effected.
“Subsequently, upon a report made at our office by Mr. Agwu that he is the owner of the line and did not authorize anyone to swap it, our customer care executives promptly restored the line as well as the airtime lost during the swap process.
“Etisalat Nigeria is currently carrying out an internal investigation into the SIM swap incident and will refer the matter to the appropriate agencies for further investigation as may be necessary.
“We wish to assure the general public that Etisalat Nigeria is committed to the protection of the rights of its subscribers and to continue to provide value adding services to its customers.
“We will spare no effort to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged unauthorized SIM swap while encouraging our customers and the general public to protect their personal information at all times,” she stated.

No fewer than 30 gunmen on Sunday invaded the Olokuta Medium Security Prison in Akure, the Ondo State capital in south-west Nigeria and released about 175 inmates and injured a prison officer.
The suspected hoodlums, who were fully armed, arrived at the prison premises around 12:05 am and shot sporadically in to the air.
Eyewitnesses said the gunmen gained entrance into the prison after they blew off the wall leading into the cell, and in the process, a prison officer was injured.
The prison which is about a kilometre to the headquarters of the 32nd Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Owena Barrack, was riddled with bullets.
The Ondo State Prison Controller, Mr. Tunde Olayiwola, confirmed the incident and described the attack as unusual, saying “the prison authorities will soon bring the culprits to book”.
Olayiwola dispelled rumors that the attack was masterminded by the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram; and added: “We cannot specifically identify those behind the attack, but the attack is unusual.”
“One of our officers was injured during the attack and he is in the hospital right now receiving treatment but I am assuring everyone that those behind the attack will be brought to book,” he said.
He said the attack was the first of its kind in the history of the prison.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Patrick Dokumor, was one of the early callers, while some government functionaries led by the Attorney General, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, had also visited the scene.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr. Wole Ogodo, confirmed the attack and said the command had contacted the prison authorities.
According to him, the information gathered on the jail break is still sketchy.
“The incident has nothing to do with terrorism. I will like to implore the people of the state to continue with their normal duty.
“I am assuring them that the police will continue to protect lives and properties of the people of the state,” Ogodo said.

Germany Summons U.S. Ambassador Over NSA Allegations

BERLIN—Germany’s foreign ministry summoned the U.S. ambassador as the fallout from whistleblower Edward Snowden’s revelations intensified.
Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government on Monday demanded clarity from the U.S. over allegations that the National Security Agency spied on European Union institutions, saying that if true they would constitute an unacceptable breach of trust between the close partners.

Germany Summons U.S. Ambassador Over NSA Allegations

Seeking clarification on the matter, the foreign ministry has called the U.S. ambassador to Germany, Philip Murphy, for a meeting later Monday, a spokesman for the ministry said.
Chancellor Merkel will seek to speak to President Barack Obama “soon” about the allegations, her spokesman Steffen Seibert said.
German weekly magazine Der Spiegel magazine reported over the weekend that the U.S. placed listening devices in EU offices in Washington, D.C., infiltrated computers there and electronically spied on EU bodies elsewhere. It cited secret documents obtained by former NSA contractor Mr. Snowden as the basis for its report.
The U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence said Sunday that the U.S. is responding to the EU privately about the allegations. The office’s statement didn’t address specific allegations but said, “We have made clear that the United States gathers foreign intelligence of the type gathered by all nations.”
But Mr. Seibert said at a news conference Monday that the report had caused “astonishment” in Berlin. “We’re not in the Cold War anymore,” he said, adding that spying on friends is “not on.”
The German government is also talking to its European partners about the spying scandal, Mr. Seibert told journalists.
The spying allegations come at the start of trade negotiations between the U.S. and the EU. Despite the scandal, the German government still wants to pursue the planned free trade agreement, according to Mr. Seibert, “but on the basis of trust.”
